Happenings...

The past few months have brought many blessings...
Among those blessings has been a chance for some much needed personal growth. My favorite "hobby" if you care to call it that is photography. I don't get to pursue this area of my life nearly as much as I would like to. But when I do, it sure is wonderful! I have been able to continue to grow and develop my skills in a way that I'm able to feel more and more comfortable with this art form. I know that there is plenty of room for improvement, and I have so much that I want to explore, but man this is fun!...

Winter Break

After a nice little flash of clients this fall, things have slowed and settled with the onset of winter. Family photos are all finished up, most people are waiting for sunshine and warmth to do engagement pictures and senior sessions. I can't say I blame them. Winter weather makes me want to hide under a quilt until spring. I will say though there is something very magical and beautiful about a thick cover of winter snow. I would love to get out there and book some sessions. I can see little girls dressed in knee high boots, fur lined vests and sparkly hats. I can see couples smooching under a pine as the lightest sprinkle of snow falls down. Beautiful. Cold but beautiful.....

Looking forward to a fun holiday session this weekend! Hopefully the weather works in our favor! My own personal family session took place yesterday and was not such a nice weather treat! Our original location was cancelled, so we got creative and headed to one of the only covered places we could think of. The gazebo in our local park. Not the background we were dreaming of, but I think it worked. In the middle of pouring rain, wind, and even thunder claps, we smiled away and hoped for the best. We will hope for better next year!

Happenings

This time of year marks the end of many photographers busy season. Well, those of us who are not lucky enough to have an indoor studio space. Gone are the many wedding and senior sessions. Most of the family session clients are at home reviewing their picture choices for their holiday cards, not setting up new sessions. I can't say I blame them, little ones especially are not too fond of this cold Wisconsin weather, and who wants a session all bundled up in parkas, hats, and scarves? The beautiful fall colors are gone (along with most of the leaves!) and the days are shorter and darker. Everything is in a sort of limbo this time of year. The beauty of fall is gone, but the beauty of winter (aka SNOW!) hasn't arrived yet....
I for one am still itching to do some outdoor sessions. I have visions of newly engaged couples dressed in rich tones against the browning and drying weeds. I can see little boys smiling shyly underneath fuzzy bomber hats. Little girls donning colorful striped tights and clunky knee high boots. I can see candy canes making little hearts and pine trees all decked out in festive bulbs. I need some sessions! Come on brave souls, I know you are out there somewhere! It's not too late! Let's get outside and have some fun.....

Up and Running!

This weekend was so much fun! I had three back to back sessions and each and every one was amazing. I will admit it was a bit nerve wracking to jump into things in such a manner, but everything went so great! I feel more confident and more comfortable with each and every session. I am so blessed to have such wonderful clients that are willing to take a chance with a "newbie" like me. They are the greatest!
I started off with a great family session for Nate and Amber. I was shooting at their home, and the views were spectacular! Rolling hills, grassy fields, patches of woods. I love when clients pick a setting for their session that is most comfortable for them. You can't get much more comfortable than home sweet home! Nate and Amber are so cute together, and their family is such a hoot. I had such a good time. Even their new little puppy Josie got in on the action, although I think she was more interested in running and jumping and licking than she was in getting her photo taken!
Then it was on to Jess and her two adorable little children. Jess chose a setting near her workplace, and I was told that "the leaves were sooooo pretty". Well Jess, you were right! The colors, leaves and setting were so great. Just perfect for fall themed photographs! Her son was such a ham and was so comfortable in front of the camera, he was just such a joy to work with. Poor little sister was not feeling very good that day, and simply was not interested in having her picture taken. Her sweetness came through and we did manage to get a few nice shots. It also didn't hurt that she was such a cutie no matter what she posed like or how she did or didn't smile! It all worked out in the end....
My last session of the day was with Stephanie and her spirited family. Three rowdy and way to cute little boys and her boyfriend. It was too much cuteness! Stephanie came across a sculptural piece that was part of a local art tour and really wanted her session to be there. It was such an interesting and different location. The art piece was a huge white cube located in a wide open field. It was so neat! It was a challenge to say the least wrangling the boys, but I think we got some really cute shots.
My weekend was busy, but oh so fun. I'm really getting into everything and can't wait to see what happens next!
